Cuz if life is an uphill battle,
We all try to climb on the same old ladder
In the same boat with the same old paddle
Why so shallow, I’m just asking
What’s the pattern to the madness?
Everybody isn’t a #1 draft pick
Most of us ain’t Hollywood actors
But if it’s all for one, and one for all
Then maybe one day we all can ball
Do it one time for the underdogs
Sincerely yours, from one of y’all
– B.o.B feat. Taylor Swift
Sometimes you work too hard. Sometimes meeting your “for-now” goals gets your “forever” goals off track. Sometimes it is easier pouring your heart into something you don’t mind rather than into something you love.
I like what I do, but I love this.
I love the sound of laughter. I love seeing my friends and family smile. I love watching happiness happen.
And what could make me fall in love more than being the reason for people’s happiness… all because I put who I am into words on your computer screen each Tuesday (… or Wednesday).
Our little ole’ blog here has really turned out to be something so much more than what I had anticipated.
I say “our” because without encouragement from Momma I would have never considered creating it.
I say “our” because without Wes I would not be so proud of how it turned out.
I say “our” because without you sweet, sweet people I would not get so excited to write week after week.
Thank you. Thank you for your support, love, and loyalty. You are fabulous!
Anyhow, it is time to reevaluate, set new goals.
Much like beauty, success is fluid. Continuous. Flowing. Success has no fixed shape; it exists because it fills the space you have created for it. You are successful because you took the time to reach the finish line, not because you received the medal. That feeling of accomplishment even though no one was around to see it – that is success.
The difference between success and power is we create success; others create power.
How we create it… well that’s the fun part.
That is where I am at. I am in the midst of trying to carve out my vestibule to success.
My hopes are that one day I could write the things I want to write all day long… maybe trick someone into paying to do so ; ) … and possibly turning some of my pieces into a book. In the meantime, just like everybody else, I must take the baby steps necessary to get there.
I wanted to share something with you that has always stuck with me.
Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels? While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
– Apple circa 1997
“To the crazy ones” launched Apple’s “Think Different” campaign in 1997. Many credit this commercial as being the key contributor to the most successful corporate turnaround in history. Now, this has nothing to do with being a Mac or a PC, it has everything to do with making a difference.
Apple’s words, their simple campaign slogan, and it’s featured iconic images have left an impact on millions of people around the world. The honesty and transparency of this campaign alone is what advertising companies have busted their asses trying to create (or recreate) for decades.
When you read the poem above you do not feel as though a salesman is speaking at you, you feel like a visionary is speaking with you.
That is how I wish to spend the rest of my life. I want to spend the rest of my days creating, inspiring, and making a difference.
My hope is that each of you have the same sort of passion for something as I do for writing.
So tell me, which kinda crazy are you?
